Good quality hardware

I bought these hinges along with the Cast-Iron Surface Door/Shutter Bolt. (R-01SE-2916375X) and the Pair of Cast Iron 8-Inch Scroll Shutter Dogs - Lag Mounted. (R-09BM-8802-BK). The finish on all three matched. The hinges worked smoothly. They are made nicely. They did not sag when holding the full weight of the shutter. The hinges are removable from the pintels. Along with the other reviews complaining about the strength of the screws, I agree with them. You get only one chance with these screw heads. They are standard slotted screws. Pick a bit that fits them perfectly to avoid tear out. If you are using pine or other softwood you should be fine. I used hardwood for my batons. Ever after pre-drilling, the screw heads were starting to tear out. The other aspect I liked about the hinges is that the offset is great enough to allow mounting the hinge straps on the inside (the side that faces the glass when closed) of the shutter so the straps are displayed when the shutter is open. The shutter bolt and dogs add style to the shutters. All pieces are well made and fully functional. See the attached pictures. I made a full set of shutters. I then made a single shutter for a narrow window. After seeing how the shutters improved the look of the house, I placed an order for another full set on an upper window.
Great company to work with.

We are in the process of replacing our original shutters on our 30 year home with functional shutters. We live on the gulf coast of Alabama within 4 miles of the gulf. We are prong to have hurricanes during the summer months. Since we are nearing our retirement age we felt this type shutters would work better so we would not have to use heavy plywood as in the past. Our main goal was to find strong sturdy hardware, now we are just trying get the correct size. Needless to say we placed another order. We are very pleased with the product.

Ready for the Storm

Moving to a hurricane area I wanted to protect my home with rugged hurricane shutters and I wanted to build them myself. The key ingredient in my book would be the hinges. I ordered one initial set and built my first pair. The hinges were exactly what I needed. I could attach them via bolts and nuts, and they were easy to install. So I ordered 7 more sets and finished my project. I as extremely please with everything I purchased from House of Antique hardware.
