This stunning allegorical push plate is a treasure. Designed for a 1930s Chicago skyscraper, it's one of a pair representing day & night. On this plate a serene bat-winged goddess with her putto helper are surrounded by symbols of night: stars, poppies, an owl, a bat, and hemlock. Amazing! These companion plates are wonderful side by side on double doors, or on either side of a single pivoting door. Lost wax cast in solid brass and finished with a lacquered antique patina.
